Victorian Miniature Leather Portrait Album Circa 1865
A delightful survival of Victorian portable history. This miniature photo album served as a family gallery that could be tucked into a waistcoat pocket or small purse. It contains a unique collection of original portraits, offering a tactile connection to the 1870s.
The album is bound in its original embossed leather covers, featuring deep geometric patterns and a functional brass clasp. Internally, the portraits are housed in card mounts with gilded borders. Of particular note is the inclusion of several military portraits, showing soldiers in detailed 19th-century service dress-a rare find in an album of this scale.
It measures 3cm x 3.6cm x 1cm
Circa 1865-1880
Condition: The condition is good, the hinged clasp still clicks into place, although a little loose, there are age-related marks over the outside covers and there are some empty pages. Please study all of the photographs as these form part of the description.
