Antique Victorian Inlaid Mother-of-Pearl & Papier-Mâché Case

An elegant piece of mid-to-late Victorian daily luxury. This antique case is crafted from traditional black lacquered papier-mâché, beautifully inlaid with a mosaic of shimmering, iridescent mother-of-pearl (nacre). Featuring vibrant natural hues of pink, lilac, and teal, it makes a striking historical curiosity or a unique desk accessory.

This lovely piece dates to the 1860s-1880s period.

It measures 16cm x 4cm approx.

Condition - Overall very good antique condition. The lacquer retains a rich, glossy black ground with beautifully vivid mother-of-pearl inlay pieces showing no major losses. Light, age-appropriate surface wear to the base and edges as expected for a genuine 19th-century item.  The hinge is a little tight.
