1848 French Bronze Medal of Honour - Vicomte de Falloux - Paris Mint
This isn't just a religious medal; it is a piece of French political history. Struck in 1848, it was awarded to the Vicomte de Falloux, a man who would become the French Minister of Education just a year later. The medal celebrates his work within the "Oeuvre de Saint François Xavier" at the historic Saint Sulpice parish in Paris.
The obverse is a masterpiece of 19th-century medal engraving by Borrel, showing Saint Francis Xavier in clerical robes with a profound, lifelike expression. The reverse is beautifully hand-engraved with the recipient's name, making it a "one-of-a-kind" item for collectors of French history or medals of honour.
The medal's diameter is 52mm.
